According to www.larimer.org, the current poverty rate in Larimer County is 11.4%, compared to the national average of 13.4%. Poverty is defined as an economic state in which a person or household cannot provide for their most basic needs. Although period products and diapers are necessary healthcare products, they can be too costly for families and women in crisis. Many federally-funded safety net programs—including Medicaid, WIC, and SNAP—do not cover these products.
The lack of access to an adequate supply of feminine products and diapers and wipes impacts the physical health, mental health, and economic well-being of individuals.
